Thayne, WY
This great Western town of Thayne, Wyoming, lies between Afton and Alpine and is the home of the first All American Cutter Races and the famous Star Valley Cheese Factory.
For the outdoor enthusiast, there are a number of activities. In the spring and summer months, one can enjoy world class fishing, hiking, camping, biking, river rafting, kayaking, horseback riding, and hunting. In the winter months, there is a spectacular range of snow activities, from downhill and cross country skiing to snowmobiling throughout the area.
Thayne, located in Star Valley, is in the midst of a national forest, national parks, and nearby resort areas with altitudes ranging from 5,600 feet to over 10,000 feet. This valley is fed by seven mountain lakes, three major rivers, and numerous pure water springs, creeks, and streams that flow into a twenty-mile-long lake.
The valley forests are plentiful with big game, including elk, moose, mule deer, bear, and mountains lions. Geese, ducks, Sandhill Cranes, Trumpeter Swans, grouse, Bald Eagles, hawks, foxes and other wildlife can also be found in the valley.
