Jackson Hole, WY
Jackson is a town located in the Jackson Hole valley of Teton County, Wyoming, United States. The town is often referred to as “Jackson Hole” because of the geographic feature in which the town is located.
In Jackson, there is a thriving tourist business with many eating and shopping establishments in a district centered around the town square. All types of goods are offered that reflect the strong Western heritage of the area.
For the outdoor enthusiast, there are spectacular places to explore, including the Rockies, Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, and the National Elk Refuge. Jackson is also near several outstanding ski resorts: Jackson’s original ski hill, a small but challenging area known as Snow King, which has steep vertical slopes and is night-lit; the famous Jackson Hole Ski Resort, which has steep terrain and one of the North American continent’s highest vertical drops; and Grand Targhee, known the world over for its “heavenly powder.”
Spring and summer activities range from fly-fishing and river rafting to rock climbing, horseback riding, kayaking, mountain biking, golfing, and tennis.
Jackson also hosts the National Museum of Wildlife Art, the Grand Teton Music Festival, and the Center for the Arts. Two favorite tourist attractions include the world’s largest ball of barbed wire and huge elk antler arches at the town square’s four entrances.
