Alpine, Wyoming, sits at an elevation of 5,640′ and has an annual snowfall of 500″. This fishermen’s dream is located at the Snake River Canyon’s southern section at the point  where the Snake River enters Palisades Reservoir, near the convergence of the Snake, the Salt, and the Greys Rivers.
Alpine offers an array of activities for the outdoor enthusiast. The surround-ing  mountains have countless miles of trails for hiking or horseback riding. Summer provides a variety of water activities, including fishing, boating, jet skiing, and water skiing at the Palisades Reservoir. For the naturalist, a large wetland and waterfowl viewing area is available. Every summer, the annual Mountain Days Festival and Dutch Oven Cook Off proves to be very popular. Along with delicious food, there is a mountain man village, Native American dancers, horse shoe tournament, knife and tomahawk toss, black powder gun shoot, and an opportunity to meet many wonderful people.
Winter in Alpine is as unique as it is peaceful. As the snow begins to fall, the quiet that blankets the area offers a marked contrast to the busy summer schedule. Winter recreation activities are numerous, and Alpine becomes a popular destination for nature lovers to photograph the beauty of the winter landscape and wildlife. Frequently visited is the Alpine Feed Ground, which draws more than one thousand elk from December to April.
