Wildlife
Wyoming has seven eco-regions and three major river systems. They include many different types of wildlife, ranging from grizzly bears to tiger salamanders, swift fox to sturgeon–over 800 species of wildlife call Wyoming home. It is one of the few states where you can see wildlife from all the major highways.
The diverse terrain in Wyoming includes plains, foothills and high mountain ranges, and the different terrains have forests, sagebrush flatlands, marshy wetlands, river bottoms, and rocky cliffs. Each area has wildlife of its own, and varieties can be easily identified.
One can find pronghorn antelope, prairie dogs, jack rabbits, golden eagles, and coyotes in the high plains or deserts. Mule deer are seen in the arid areas as well as in the foothills and higher mountains. Elk are found in all parts Wyoming mountain ranges, and bighorn sheep and pikas inhabit many of the high peaks. Moose and Bald Eagle can bee seen in the areas next to water in Western Wyoming.
